The City and Metropolitan Welfare Charity is a small grant giving trust. The Trustees make modest grants, and meet twice a year in April and October to consider applications. Applications (by email) must be received before the start of the preceding month. To request an application form, please click here.
The Trustees’ focus is on making grants to other registered charities who work to support offenders and ex-offenders, and with the aim to reduce re-offending and encourage long term employment.
Our legal Scheme of Arrangement requires a preference for grants from institutions or organisations which are administered in or in connection with the City of London.
The Trustees have interpreted this with some latitude. All our grants are made to registered charities that have the structures in place to make appropriate grants, give training, or offer support to individuals. Charities which have annual income/expenditure greater than £3M will need to be especially deserving or relevant, as will those with substantial reserves.
The Clerk to the Trustees is Nigel Pullman - nrpullman@btinternet.com
